THE S.O.S. ORTHODONTIC STUDY
CLUB
INFORMATION FOR CLASS 2009
The S.O.S.
Orthodontic Study Club is an exclusive orthodontic study club,
which is setup in 1996 and opens to all clinicians who have
interest to join.
THE
OBJECTIVES:
The SOS
Orthodontic Study Club will:
1. Provide
the members the knowledge of basic and advance clinical
orthodontics.
2. Give the members opportunity to chair ideas, experiences,
tips and tricks not only in clinical orthodontics, but also in
general.
3. Help the members solving existing problems in case
management.
4. Produce qualified orthodontists and distribute him or her to
serve in their community.
HOW TO
BECOME OUR MEMBER?
You must
enroll in our activities (seminars) organized every 2nd month.
After you finished the last seminars you will be automatically
registered as our member with rights and privileges.
THE SCOPE
OF OUR SEMINARS WILL COVER:
1. Current
Concepts in Clinical Orthodontics
2. Laboratory procedures and exercises
3. Clinical Practices
4. Practice visits and demonstrations
5. Case conference
6. Journal club and recommended reading
PROPERTIES
OF APPLICANTS:
1. Applicants
must be graduated doctors of dental surgery from a domestic or a
foreign university.
2. He or she must have professional license as a dental
practitioner in Thailand.
3. Applicants from remote provinces will have the priority to
the admittance.
4. He or she must have good knowledge in English and computer
technology is required.
5. Applicants must be healthy individual and ready to work hard.
We are looking for a few good men and women.
THE
SEMINARS COMPOSED OF:
A.
Lectures and Laboratory Procedures:
12 courses will be arranged on Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays
every 2nd month interval or after the class majority’s decision.
See attached. The curriculum is based on the residency program
in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as taught at
Frankfurt University Clinic during 1982-1994 and modified to fit
the Thai environment. The Class 2007 will start in January or
February 2007. The date is subject to change depend on readiness
of the participants.
B. Home
coming day (Case conferences)
Two day case conference and lectures will be arranged according
to members’ need. So get your high standardized case documents
and the questions ready.
C.
Practice visits
The students are advised to take this part as often as possible.
Saturday is usually recommended. Contact our front desk for more
information. Observation of the activities in the Dental and TMD
Center will provide the student to learn more on practical part,
clinical tips and tricks, which may not be able to teach in the
lecture room. 2 Students are allowed at a time. Clinical gown is
obligation.
NUMBER OF
THE PARTICIPANTS:
These seminars will have seat available limited to 9 clinicians
only.
At the 1 st and 2 nd meeting before course no. 1 will be started,
all of instruments and equipments will be ordered and examined
on individual bases for rectification and readiness. The club
will provide obligatory instruments, but this is only for the
starting period.
